Federal inspections tips
Compiled by the Detroit Port Quality Committee

You must have a USDA permit to bring in most organisms, cells and cultures, monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, and related substances, whether of plant or animal origin. For permit information call the USDA Prmit Unit at (301) 734-8645 and (301) 734-8695.
Wildlife parts or products must be declared on the Customs Declaration form when returning to the U.S.
Be very careful about advice given by individuals outside the US Customs Service. It could be misleading and even cause you to violate Customs laws and incur costly penalties. Please direct any questions to the nearest Customs office or US Embassy.
If you have a family member immigrating to the United States, please ask them to have the immigrant visa packet and the customs declaration form ready for the Immigration Officer.
Send your suggestions and comments to the Port Quality Improvement Committee, c/o Immigration and Naturalization, International Terminal, Detroit Metro Airport, Detroit, MI 48242. Inclusion of a phone number will be helpful for a personal reply.
