Ways to add hours to your day
- Plan your day the night before. Select clothing, prepare lunches and pack
briefcases before going to bed.
- Establish daily priorities & stick to them. Use an organizer to keep a
running list of what needs to get done. Prioritize tasks daily.
- Do it, delegate it, or throw it away. Be decisive. Don't waste energy and time
pondering simple tasks.
- Break down large tasks. Conquer procrastination by dividing big projects into
smaller steps.
- Delegate tasks. When delegating, provide careful instructions at the beginning of
the project.
- Control interruptions. Tell callers you're on deadline by beginning conversations
with "Great to hear from you, what can I do for you?" Control office
interruptions with non-verbal "I'm busy" clues.
- Use one organizer for your personal & business lives. Multiple calendars
create confusion. To keep activities separated, use different colored pens.
- Run errands efficiently. Group errands to accomplish more in the same trip.
- Shop smart. Keep a shopping list of the items you purchase regularly in your
organizer.
- Do 2 things at once. Waiting on hold? Put your phone on speaker and do something
else until the person picks up.
